Please note that since writing this post in Jan Cookies&Java grew fast and I changed my marketing strategy away from targeting Freelance business to targeting agency business. Therefore the test at the bottom of the post no longer works.

Great article. Many old sites have started to disappear from google, and throughout web design there has been a much needed re-think. It was often seen that a company buying a new website was buying success among other things, but a more pragmatic and rational breed of freelance designers are now emerging. The have shown that with a sensible, considered quality site that is well coded can support a business, however it has to be said this is made much easier when the product they are supporting is of quality and value in the first place.

I think we could all do well to promote a more sensible outlook to manage the expectations of the clients.
